TOM MANN CENTURIA 90th ANNIVERSARY T-SHIRT
Our Tom Mann Centuria 90th anniversary design is based on the only surviving photo of the Centuria.
The group pictured in Barcelona September 1936 was amongst the first of international volunteers who joined the Republican side prior to the formation of the International Brigades a month later.
From left to right: Sid Avner, Nat Cohen (the leader of the group), Ramona Siles García (who later married Cohen), Tom Wintringham (kneeling at the front in white), Giorgio Trioli (an Italian), Jack 'Blue' Barry (an Australian) and David Marshall.
Nat Cohen, a clothing worker from London, was on a cycling holiday in Spain. He participated in an abortive August 1936 Republican raid to free Majorca from Franco's fascists. Returning to Barcelona, in September he helped form the Tom Mann Centuria.
