By the end of 2024 a total of 247,880 badgers had been culled. The reason for the cull? To end bovine tubercolosis yet scientific studies have revealded the overwhelming majority of cattle TB infections are from cow to cow. Many in the farming community continue to wrongly believe that badgers are a significant factor in the spread of the disease. Scientists, vets, campaigners, have all challenged this claim. For details see The Badger Trust.
