Trade union organiser, socialist, republican, James Connolly was one of the leaders of the Easter Rising. Executed for his part in the insurection, his writing, ideas and ideals, more than any other single individual, would inspire all those who believed in a free Ireland that would also be an equal Ireland. Summed up most powerfully by Connolly's vision of what Ireland needed to become "The Irish people will only be free when they own everything from the plough to the stars."

Our centenary design combines Connolly's Irish plough and stars to symbolise freedom and equality for all, wherever.
