Bowie Lightning Flash

Bowie's Aladdin Sane album of 1973 was no ordinary record release. When he appeared on the album cover with that unforgettable lightning flash across his face, heavily made-up and with ginger-dyed hair he helped transform millions of teenagers' definitions of who they were and what they might want to become. This is precisely why the loss of Bowie means so much to so many.

And in memory of Bowie, our shirt raises funds for Arts Emergency. Bowie didn't come from a privileged background, he didn't fit in easily at school, but he was given the opportunity to develop by studying art, music, graphic design and dance. Many of those post-16 opportunities are now disappearing, making it harder and harder for new artists from Bowie's background to emerge. Arts Emergency provides mentoring, networking and support to keep that hope alive for hundreds of emerging new artists. This shirt is therefore not discounted, instead £5 from each shirt goes to Arts Emergency, purchase at the solidarity price and we can double our donation.
