5th July 1945. Just two months after VE Day and Clement Attlee's Labour Party wins a landslide General Election victory defeating hugely popular wartime leader Winston Churchill and his Conservative Party.  'Now Win the Peace' was Labour's vote-winning message and in five short years it did that by creating not only the NHS but also the welfare state, nationalising the railways, building hundreds of thousands of council houses, making full employment the government's first priority.

Prikme Minister Attlee, Bevan who's founding vision was the NHS, Cripps the architect of Labour's economic strategy that both funded the welfare state  and ensured full employment. The ABC of Labour '45.
