Sleeveprint: The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists. Robert Tressell Centenary 1911-2011. Paintbrush&Sickle

Robert Tressell was the author of the inspirational socialist novel The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists. Adapted from a design by Megan Dobney we came up with a 'paintbrush and sickle' as a tribute to Tressell in the centenary year of his death. Reminiscent of the Lissitzky's 'Red Wedge' of the Russian Revolution, our original design combines the tool of the painting and decorating trade with a joyful socialism of the 'painting the town red' variety.
