In 2008 to date 41 trade unionists have been assassinated in Colombia. Colombia is officially the most dangerous country in the world to be a trade unionist. This is a country whose state security forces, in collusion with illegal paramilitary forces, inflicts systematic human rights abuses on every level of civil society. The only solution is a peacefully negotiated settlement, foreign military intervention would prevent this.
